Children pumping water at a well

About Well Water

A water ministry of the local church

How we started, what we believe and who does the work.

Our story

It started with one broken pump

In 2003, eight people from a church on Spring Street visited a village whose only pump had been broken for three years. The part they needed cost less than one of their plane tickets. They fixed it that afternoon with the village pastor, and on the flight home they started planning the next one.

Twenty years on, crews from local churches drill the wells, and we train them, pay for the equipment and come back for years afterwards. We still begin every drilling season the same way, reading John 4 together and praying for the village by name.

What guides us

What we believe and how we work

01

Jesus is the living water

We bring clean water because he cares about thirsty people, and we hope they meet him.

02

The church stays

A local church hosts every well and is there long after our crew leaves.

03

Water for everyone

No one has to believe anything, or come to church, to use a pump.

04

Built to last

We drill deeper and train the committee first, so wells keep working.

05

Open books

Every well is posted with photos and GPS, and our accounts are audited.

06

Prayer first

Crews pray before they drill. So do the people who give.

Financial integrity

Where your gift goes

Audited every year by an independent firm. Every finished well is published with photos and its GPS pin.
