Well Water · since 2003
Clean water for villages, through the church next door.
We help local churches drill wells and keep them running. The church crew drills it, a village committee looks after it, and the pastor is there in the mornings when people come to fill their cans.

One open well for six hundred people
The only water in this village is a hand-dug hole that floods every rainy season. A sealed borehole would fix that. 72% funded.

Five-day devotional
Jesus at the well, in John 4
Five short readings on the woman at the well and the living water Jesus offered her. We read it with our crews before every drilling season.

“Why does a water charity talk about Jesus?”
Because we’re a church ministry before we’re anything else. Jesus met a thirsty woman at a well and offered her living water. We drill because people need water, and no one has to believe anything to drink from our pumps. But our crews pray before they drill, a local church hosts every well, and we hope people meet Jesus there too.

Fund a well
A well costs about $12,000 and serves a village of around six hundred people. Smaller gifts pay for repairs, which are often the quickest way to bring water back.

Every month we send one village by name, with its pastor, its committee and what they’re asking for. It takes two minutes to read.

Churches can visit a village their well serves, on a one-week trip with our team. You won’t drill, but you’ll worship with the church there.

About us
It started with one broken pump in 2003
Eight people from a church on Spring Street visited a village whose only pump had been broken for three years. The part cost less than one of their plane tickets. They fixed it that afternoon with the village pastor, and on the flight home they started planning the next one.
Today local crews have drilled or repaired about 1,240 wells. Ninety-six in a hundred are still flowing after five years, because the committee that runs each one is trained before we leave and the church stays.
Read our story
I walked two hours each way for water, every morning, for eleven years. The first day the pump worked I didn’t know what to do with my morning, so I went and sat in the church. Pastor Daniel prayed with me. I haven’t missed a Sunday since.
